At Kaizen QI, we provide specialist Quality Improvement (QI) coaching, mentoring and strategic support to healthcare organisations seeking measurable, sustainable improvement. Our approach is grounded in extensive national leadership experience, advanced improvement science, and a proven record of delivering transformational results across complex clinical systems.

Our founder, Jonathan Clarke FRCS, works as a National Clinical Lead for Quality, Safety and Improvement and an Assistant Medical Director for Quality Improvement.

​

With deep expertise in the Model for Improvement (ScIL), Lean, Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt), and Quality Management Systems, he has led large-scale change programmes at organisational, national and international levels.

Jonathan has successfully delivered system-wide improvements including:

  • Developing QI capability across entire organisations, from frontline teams to board executives

  • Transforming cancer pathways, reducing diagnostic waits by up to 50% and improving treatment timeliness by 270%

  • Redesigning Cellular Pathology processes, doubling processing speed and halving errors

  • Leading national safety collaboratives that reduced in-hospital cardiac arrests by over tenfold

  • Strengthening theatre safety to achieve an eightfold reduction in 'Never Events' incidents

  • Delivering major outpatient transformation programmes across multiple specialties

  • He is currently working on implementing Quality Management Systems at national scale

His clinical, operational and strategic expertise is complemented by advanced training in improvement science, coaching, health economics, and the Toyota Production System. Jonathan is recognised within the NHS and wider improvement community for his ability to coach teams, build improvement cultures, and facilitate meaningful, measurable change.
